Startup Weekend is an event that brings together entrepreneurs, marketers, designers, tech enthusiast and basically anyone with a great business ideas together and in 54 hours help them turn the idea into a viable business, this 54 hour event is weekend long hands on experience where you find out if that ideas you had is viable, on average 50% of startup weekend attendees have technical background and the other half are business savvy.

This is the first event of the kind to be held in Nairobi, it will attract business leaders from the public and private sector, season entrepreneurs and yourself, you get a chance to network with big industry names as you pitch for funding for your idea to them.

Startup Weekend Nairobi will be held on February 24th -26th, 2011, and is slotted to have exciting prizes for the winners of the challenge. The event has also attracted the attention of the International Community and 6 international participants and volunteers from Copenhagen, Denmark will be working together with the teams in Nairobi to see their ideas come to fruition.

On the local front, the event has attracted well known and successful entrepreneurs who speaker at the event will as well Judge the most viable ideas. The benefits to the entrepreneurs participating include the following:

The 3-day event will be held at the Nailab, which is on the 4th floor of Bishop Magua Center, Ngong Road, opposite Uchumi Hyper, with the break-out sessions being held at The GrowthHub, located at Cape Office Park, off Ring Road Kilimani opposite the Gracehouse Resort.

The participatory fee for the event is KES 2,050, and the tickets can be accessed from

www.nairobi.startupweekend.org . For those attending the event finale on 26th February only, the entrance fee will be KES 500 and the tickets can be accessed on the same website.
